The Speed Up (also known as Skate or Roller-Shoes) is a recurring Power-Up item in the Bomberman series.

Description

It increases the player's speed by 1. The item's usual appearance is a light blue roller skate with yellow shoelaces and wheels. In newer games, the icon is the same, but mirrored, In the early mobile games, the roller skate is colored green, has a blue strap, and has orange color wheels. In the earlier games, the Speed Up is treated as an Special Item that you can only have one at a time, and would be lost if you lose a life. In the newer games (such as Bomberman '93), it is now treated as an Common Item that you can have more than one.

Strategy

In some games, having more Speed-Up items can actually make gameplay more difficult. Sometimes, having more speed can make it difficult to hide between rows or columns and avoid multiple explosions. It is generally best to observe the game mechanics when maneuvering around Hard Blocks in Bomberman games, and see how speed affects this.
