The Boxing Glove (also known as Power Glove (パワーグラブ) or Punch (パンチ), in Japan and some English localisations) is a recurring power-up item in the Bomberman series.
Description
It is an item that allows players to punch bombs in order to knock them away. Punched bombs may be knocked out of the screen to screen wrap to the other side. The item is generally represented by a red boxing glove.
Strategy
The Boxing Glove is most useful for situations in which a trapped player is not able to kick a bomb (due to objects in the way) and needs to move it away by some other means. It can also be used to punch bombs into the crossfire of another player, making for a quick kill. In certain games (such as Bomberman Land, Land 2, Land 3, Bomberman Kart, Kart DX, and Battles/Hardball), the Boxing Glove also have an additional ability: you can destroy a Soft Block down with it, unfortunately it is a bit slow.
Bomberman Quest
In Bomberman Quest, the Punch is known as the Gauntlets in English versions, and they are an equippable weapon. They can be used to punch bombs or enemies. Bombs punched with the Gauntlets will be thrown one tile space, and can be knocked over obstacles. Enemies punched with the Gauntlets will be Stunned.[1] It is obtained by defeating Eyti.
Trivia
- The Boxing Glove first appeared in Super Bomberman, in which it was known as the Power Glove.[2] The Power Glove became an entirely different item in Super Bomberman 2,[3] and the Boxing Glove did not appear again until Super Bomberman 4, in which it was re-introduced as the "Punch".[4]
